Public healthcare services can play prominent role In India to improve the condition of the health care services in India. The role of private facilities is gradually becoming important as it is expected to act as a substitute for the public health care systems. The choice between public and private healthcare services is a key area of research in India. This study aims to understand factors which determine the choices of healthcare services & how choices of healthcare services differ spatially at the district level in whole India and identify hotspot for urgent attention. For this purpose, data have been taken from NFHS round 5 (2019-2021). Univariate and Bivariate & multivariate regression analysis have done in STATA 17 software. To show the concentration and choices of healthcare services over space map has been drawn on Arc GIS. Spatial autocorrelation techniques such as univariate Moran’s I and cluster maps are prepared in Geoda software to understand the spatial clustering of these indices. MS Excel has been used for tabulation purposes. Finding reveal that people living at high altitude & belonging lower class group, Christian, no education or preschool , rural areas, poor family are more likely to utilize public healthcare services as compared to private ones in India & some district of J & K, some district of western Rajasthan, almost district of North East India, almost district of Odisha are identified as high – high & almost district of Punjab, UP, Bihar & some district of Maharashtra, Telangana & Andhra Pradesh are identified as low – low. This result can help to improve utilisation of public healthcare services in India. Keywords: Healthcare utilization, Determinants, Public healthcare, Spatial disparities, India
