Abstract Content (not more than 300 word, should include: Introduction, Objective, Methodology, critical findings & Conclusion):
Background and Relevance In an era characterized by rapid social and economic transitions, integrating life skill education within formal and non-formal learning spaces contributes to the creation of a skilled and resilient human resource capable of addressing future uncertainties. Against this backdrop, the present study assesses the changes in adolescents’ life skills following the implementation of a structured life skill education program. Objective To measure the extent of improvement in adolescents’ life skills as a result of the Magic Bus India Foundation’s life skill education intervention. Data and Methods The study adopted a cross-sectional, mixed-methods design. Quantitative data were randomly collected from 260 adolescents in Adimali block, using structured questionnaires via mWater platform. Qualitative data were gathered through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), In-Depth Interviews (IDIs), and Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) with adolescents, parents, teachers, and community stakeholders. Quantitative data were analyzed using statistical tools, while thematic analysis was applied to qualitative data. Key Findings Comparison between baseline and endline assessment indicate a significant overall improvement in adolescents’ life skills, aspirations, and attitudes. Problem-solving skills increased by 44 percentage points, with girls (88.5%) outperforming boys (84.6%). Decision-making, self-management, and self-efficacy improved by 11%, 33%, and 23%, respectively. Emotional intelligence (82% to 84%) and resilience (96% to 99%) also showed positive progress. Teachers and parents further noted positive shifts in classroom engagement and interpersonal behavior. Conclusion The study underscores the transformative potential of sustained, context-responsive life skill education in promoting adolescents’ psychosocial and cognitive growth.
