Introduction-Poverty alleviation is essential because poverty ruins lives and undermines development, the environment, and political stability. Poverty exists where basic needs are not fulfilled, and there is little power, little choice and lack of control of resources. Poverty is a proximate determinant of malnutrition that mediates through inadequate dietary intake, lack of medical care, lack of access to sanitation and hygiene. Objective- 1.To analyze the government policy or scheme in eradication of poverty and malnutrition. 2.To suggest strategies and model to reduce poverty and malnutrition. Methodology-Exploring the status of poverty and child malnutrition as well as determinants of poverty and malnutrition in Uttar Pradesh. Poverty and, Malnutrition has analyzed in children in reference of the three indicator of malnutrition such as Underweight, Wasting and Stunting, with the help of secondary data of National Family Health Survey-5 2019-21 (NFHS-5), Integrated Child Development Programmed and National Multidimensional Poverty Index. Critical Finding-Efforts to reduce malnutrition must be based on a clear understanding of the role of poverty as a cause and a consequence of malnutrition. Factors contributing to malnutrition include poverty, lack of access to nutritious food, inadequate healthcare infrastructure, especially in rural area, can affect healthcare delivery, including antenatal and postnatal care for mothers and infants and Lack of awareness about proper nutrition and healthcare practices, particularly in economically disadvantaged communities, and can contribute to malnutrition. Most of the factors of poverty are unemployment, low wages, illiteracy, lack of financial service and poor governance etc. Conclusion-Effects of poverty show a positive impact on child malnutrition. Poverty and malnutrition rates are falling in many places, but not fast enough. The government designed several welfare programmed to reduce the poverty and malnutrition.
