Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder has been recently included in the ICD-11 of WHO in 2018 that has facilitated ease for the researchers and clinicians to diagnose trauma victims. The purpose of the study was to do to a systematic literature review of the papers written in the domain of cPTSD in the last five years (2018-2023). For the systematic literature review a list of inclusion and exclusion criteria was established with only those papers being selected for the systematic review that met the criteria. The last five years of research has dived into childhood abuse, association of complex PTSD with BPD, impact of human trafficking, the effect of COVID-19 on the levels of distress in patients and the positive relationship of loneliness with cPTSD. Additionally, attachment, perceived social support and modalities of treatment have been studied. Although extensive research has been done in the last five years related to cPTSD yet there are domains in which either there has been no research done or very little has been explored. It is suggested that more studies need to be conducted in finding the modalities of therapeutic expertise for increasing the efficacy of the treatment. In India, youth suicides contribute to 35-40% of all suicide cases and with suicidal ideation common in cPTSD research should be embarked to ensure suicide prevention but not much has been uncovered regarding the assessment of patients with suicidal ideations. Several population-based researches have been conducted and if more could be conducted especially in the context of Indian subcontinent and adjacent countries could prove to be beneficial.
